We had banana leaf meal with fish head curry. The fish head gravy did not disappoint us, it was fabulous. We also tried some spicy prawns and sotong. Both sotong and prawn dish was good. We had continuous refill of the lovely vegetables which comes FOC with banana leaf meal set. Had to disturb the waiter for more and more papadums. We all had glasses of thirst quenching iced mooru drink. I must say i found the food pricing to be reasonable. Parking abit difficult due to many lunch time crowd.

This is my first time visiting this restaurant, which was recommended by a friend, and their Tosei Rumah and Roti Kosong are delicious. Their kuah is superb. I also bought their Apom Manis, which I thought were too sweet, but my friend said they were delicious. Their tea is a little bland, which is OK with me because I don't like sugary foods or drinks. For me, the pricing is reasonable. I bought hot tea, iced tea, two tosei, one Roti Kosong, and one Apom Manis for RM13. They also accept cashless transactions. Because there are a limited number of parking spaces available, most customers will park their vehicles near the roadside without using the parking box. Overall, it is a good and clean restaurant, and would recommend it to my friends.

Not the usual kind of restaurant. Tucked away neatly within an old but established neighbourhood. You'll not even know that there's such an eatery here. No signboard even! Good food, good Variety, however. That's breakfast! Why don't you try their lunch & comment folks!

Arrived for a late lunch. This place was highly recommended by a local client. Verdict - Best salt fish curry in jb! Truly delicious. I had just that with spinach & Dhall curry and a handful of papadam for only rm9. Will be back to try the other dishes. Everything looks and smells great! Can’t wait to visit again. We returned the next day to try out the other dishes. Was a little disappointed with the fried fish - it was cold, not crispy and a little bland. However the salt fish curry made up for the meal. Tried the chicken varuval which was delicious. Had the deep fried bitter gourd too. It was nice. Meal went well with rasam. Had teh halia to complete the meal. Tea was a let down. :( 2 days later - Couldn’t resist another visit. Was pleasantly surprised to find crab curry on the counter! Had the crab curry and it was delicious. Crab curry is only available on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Crab was a little small but it’s yummy. Apparently briyani is also only available on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays too. Did not get a chance to try it. Can’t wait to visit again Another 2 days later - Visited yet again. This time had BLR with the salted fish curry and tried the chicken curry. The usual fare was great but the chicken curry was a let down. Note to self - Better stick to the chicken varuval next time. Gave the teh halia Kurang Manis another try - it was much better this time around.

!!! Ashoka is back! I dare say, it actually tastes even better than before! The curries, vade and potato masala are delicious! Boy am I glad I went back to try it out again! Staff is different and the quality has improved. Going back up to 5 stars, if there is six stars, I'll gladly put 6! Definitely my number 1 spot for roti prata in JB! I did try other recommended roti prata spots but in my opinion, they cannot match this place. For me, the roti prata and multiple curries in Ashoka is the best! ******************* My previous review A bit sad really. This used to be our go to place for Roti Prata and Thoshai which we considered was the best in JB then. However, I noticed after the business was taken over by the son and his new batch of men, even the simple roti prata was no longer the same tastiness nor crispiness, and the thosai was always "no more" even when we arrive in the mid morning. The son is ok, friendly and good enough man, but the staff ... was not the same friendliness nor efficiency as the previous batch - maybe need to swap the blur inefficient servers with the cook - perhaps they would make better cooks and the cook a better server. Or get all of them to try and choose the best cook from amongst them. Then you might see business improve. Just my 2 cents. Last time I would definitely have given 5 stars. Had fond memories here. Here's hoping they can return to previous standards.

One of my favourite South Indian food! Must definitely come try their fish head. Bring more ppl, it's gonna be huge! Can serve around 5~7 people. If you come here alone, u can try their lamb briyani! Absolutely lovin it! You can also try their masala tea, highly recommended. Last bad not least, I often come here just for their fried bitter gourd, always run out before 1230pm! Be sure to time yourself!

This location is quite out of the way. My friend recommended it and was not disappointed. The plain roti was average. Prefer the crispy type. They do not have the fancy roti variants like roti tsunami. I had their kambing and roti bom which were sweet and good.
